Kristine HARRIS

Kristine Harris is Associate Professor and Deputy Chair of the Department of History at the State University of New York at New Paltz, where she is also on the core faculty of the Asian Studies Program. With a research focus on film and media, visual culture, and gender studies in twentieth-century China, Harris has also served twice as Visiting Associate Professor of Cinema and Media Studies at the University of Chicago. Her publications have appeared in the Harvard New Literary History of Modern China; Oxford Handbook of Chinese Cinemas; Les Sons de l’exotisme au cinema: Bruits, voix, musiques; History in Images: Pictures and Public Space in Modern China; The New Woman International: Representations in Photography and Film from the 1870s through the 1960s, among others. She holds a PhD in East Asian Languages and Cultures from Columbia University.
